This sale is for the very rare 1863 Gettysburg Battlefield Map. The map is entitled \"FIELD OF GETTYSBURG JULY 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, 1863. Prepared by T. Ditterline\". This map was published in 1863. The sale also includes the original 24 page pamphlet entitled \"SKETCH OF THE BATTLES OF GETTSBURG\". This 24 pagepamphlet was published 1864 by C.A. Alvord. The author is also T. Ditterline. The map, as per the photos has a few minor tears and spots. It also hastwo old scotch tape repairs, as well as some newer acid free tape on the reverse in places. There is also a place on the map where some notations have been made by the previous owner (as per the photo).

This scarce map was printed within a year after the battle, andalmost certainly was the first published map of the historic confrontation. Evenmore scarce is to find themap along with the explanatory pamphlet, as many weredetached and framed. The pamphletitself has been bound in the former college library\'s cardboard wraps. As per the photos of the pamphlet, you can see a hole in the front wrap, as well as some moderate wear throughout. There is also some foxing here and there.

This scare map and pamphlet is currently listed for $12,500 on an store.
