The size of Planter: 7 3/8\" dia x 8 1/2\" high( 5 3/4\" dia opening, 5\" dia straight down). It is very rare Japanse Kutani Porcelain Planter. It has Peacock design with pretty flower design (peony, wisteria and others). It is very finely painted on the peacock feathers as well as other painting. The top rim and bottom rim area with Akae work with the gold painted finely as well. It has three attractive foot. Very nice shape. It is marked Kutani Watano Sei (made). It is made as planter from beginning. The condition of planter excellent. No chip, no crack, no hairline other than aged hairlines because of this kind kutani porcelain nature. It is called Kannyu (original kiln hairline caused by temperature differentiation when the kiln temperature and outside temperature are different when item pulled out from kiln especially Kutani area is very cold country site). These hairlines are under the glaze, it does not catch the finger nails tip like the one with forced and damaged hairlines. One Hittsuki(original kiln glaze stick) on the top rim.It sound very good. Gold condition is excellent as well. Dating from late Edo to early Meiji, 1850-1880. I had this planter many years.
