DESCRIPTION ... A rare 18th century snuff box by a rarely seen austrian silversmith with gilt finish and ornate design to the hinged lid .
There is no other known piece of his work on the Internet at all , only records of him being a silversmith in the late 18th century .
HALLMARKS .. Makers initials and german austrain hallmark .
SIZE ... 5 by 3.7 cm .
CONDITION .. Some gilt loss , the underside does have a lot of scratches . The decoration is very clear and crisp as are the hallmarks .
