Exceptional & rare antique French hallmarked sterling silver ecuelle, tureen or covered serving dish PAIR with elegant figural medallions, superb condition and PUIFORCAT silversmith marks. Oh, I\'m so excited to offer these! A beautiful and rare matched pair, add in that they\'re hallmarked by the world renowned House of Puiforcat and weigh an impressive 75.5 troy ounces and, well, they\'re just irresistible! I found reference online to a similar Puiforcat piece, just a single but it had its base tray (a famous sale house). I\'ve also seen similar singles online, also without the bottom tray, a Cardeilhac piece for $8k and a Tetard for $2500! Here you have a matched pair, each in as near pristine condition as could be hoped for and, as heavy as they are, that\'s really no surprise. AND they\'re PUIFORCAT! Definitely made to last, crafted for their elegance and visual appeal. I\'ve also seen them referred to as tureens, of course, and porringers though most bear the French \'ecuelle\' moniker which translates simply to \'bowl\'. Each piece has a Neoclassical style figural medallion on the lid handle and bead festooned borders, nothing overly frilly. The side handles with foliate pattern and each lower bowl has an interlaced monogram on one side, difficult to decipher though. The lids, handles and bases all bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmarks, the tiny number \"1\" within those marks means they are in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for \"sterling\" silver). I\'ve already mentioned the silversmith :), but could add that Puiforcat is now owned by Hermes, another French institution known for elegance & opulence. Stunning, rare and guaranteed to please, don\'t miss this pair! Very good-excellent condition. No dents, damage or repairs to note. These are actually overly thick sterling silver, even when compared to other French pieces which are known for their heavy craftsmanship. This pair has a total weight of 75.5 troy ounces or 2348 grams. See pictures for all measurements.

You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. And your ranking of our performance is also very important! We wish to keep our 4.9 - 5 star ratings in all categories. Customer satisfaction is paramount with us, so if you\'re thinking we have not deserved your highest marks, please contact us and allow us to be sure your concerns are completely satisfied before you rank us. As always, please also feel free to contact us if you have any problems or concerns, we\'ll do what we can to ensure a happy and mutually enjoyable transaction.

Insurance has been eliminated as an option by , forcing us sellers to either ship your items without insurance or assume that expense also. We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replacable. Again, damage in transit, while rare in our experience, is due to the postal agency handling and not caused by Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Please remember that when leaving DSR ratings. Thanks!
