Rare Museum Quality 1984 Vintage Fat Chance “Kicker\" Mountain Bike:
$1500.00

This is one of the most original mountain bikes you will see outside of a museum, a 1984 Fat Chance Kicker. I ordered it from Chis Chance of Fat City Cycles in the spring of 1984. The main difference with this frame and the ones off the production line was the Suntour Roller Cam brakes, especially with the rear brake mounted under the chain stays instead of the seat stays. Charlie Cunningham started the roller cam revolution and mounted the rear brake under the chain stays which I thought was cool. He later sold the patent to Suntour and that’s what’s on this bike. Most Fat Chance mountain bikes (1992-1994) left Chris’ Somerville, MA shop with Shimano cantilever brakes. The lime green color was another option.I’ve owned this bike for 32 years and it has been ridden countless times. This bike deserves to be ridden, but if it ends up in a museum, then so be it.Original components:• Shimano “Deer Head” derailleurs and shift levers
• Magura motorcycle brake levers, covers and cables (this was the hot ticket in the 1980s)
• Shimano Deore crank arms (175)
• Shimano Biopace chainrings (28-38-48)
• Shimano 5 cog rear cassette
• Suntour XC-II Roller Cam brakes
• Suntour XC-II \"Bear Trap\" pedals
• Stronglight roller bearing headset
• Sealed bottom bracket
• Shimano Deore XT seat post
• Specialized leather seat
• Modified Suntour BMX seat post clamp with quick release lever
• “Bull Mouse” handle bars
• 26x1.75 Wheel Smith wheels using Saturn rims, Specialized (sealed bearing hubs) and Wheel Smith spokesNon-Original components:• Ritchey grips and tires
• New tubes
• Jagwire brake pads
• Jagwire derailleurs cables
• NTN bottom bracket sealed bearings
• KMC “Z” narrow chainThis bike is in great condition. The frame is straight with no cracks, bends or dents. The paint has some chips which is why I’m not listing it as mint. The rims are true and all derailleurs are adjusted. Brakes have new pads and stop well. Sealed bottom bracket and wheel bearings are perfect. The derailleurs cables are new. The chain has been cleaned and left un-lubed for shipment. And like I mentioned, the brake cables are from a motorcycle and they will never break. This mountain bike is sold as is. No returns accepted.I will have a bike shop package the bike and ship ASAP. Shipping cost is $150 within the contiguous US. I will be glad to ship worldwide at buyer’s expense.Thank you for looking…
