We are offering for sale a lovelyGeorgian silverteaspoon with two rare features.

This beautifulteaspoon has bright-cut engraved decoration andis in the uniquely West Country pattern - Bright-cut Old English with Shoulders. The decoration is crisp throughout with original script monogram to the terminal.

Of additional interest within the hallmarks is the incuse duty mark that was usedfor just 18 months. In the absence of a date letter, this mark helps date the spoon to betweenDecember 1784 andMay 1786.

This is a most attractive and interestingspoonwith the bonus of being in excellent condition.

MEASUREMENTS: 12.2cm (4.8\") long;9.5grams weight.

MARKS:English hallmarks (guaranteeing Sterling 925 standard silver) forExeter circa 1784-86, madeby Joseph Hicks. Exeter made teaspoons of the period were not punched with all the available marks due to lack of space. The town mark and date letter are always left out, but on this spoon the combination of the shape of thelion passant punch and the maker\'s mark confirm the origin, and the incuse duty mark helps to accurately date the piece.
