Up for sale is a very rare and hard to find original Revolutionary War period carved horn signal whistle. This whistle was most likely used to signal troops, giving order, and sound alarm. The mouthpiece has a wood insert and there is a small wood(?) ball inside the whistle.Thewhistle has some damage (from its age) but the damage does not effect its ability to function.
This is a great museum quality Revolutionary War era horn whistle and would be an excellent addition to acollection.I have seen only a couple other similar horn whistles and they have all been Revolutionary War Era (mid-late 1700s).
A similar horn whistle (\" C. 1775 Revolutionary War Era Horn Whistle : Lot 0115\") sold for $300 (with a 23% buyerspremium) on Livesaleeers on March21th, 2016.
