The weigh approximately 75 pounds each and none of the cast iron has been broken or cracked. The Angels appear to have been originally cast in multiple large pieces and are held together with brick mortar. The black one has the same seams as the partially burned one but just not visible so it appears they have never been repaired. I spent hours searching for photos of similar antique angels with no luck. Ones this large are non existent in pictures I can find. The Angels are approximatly 27\" long, 12\" wide and 17\" tall. After I bought these I was told by the owner how one Angel\'s came to have paint melted on it and appears to have been involved in a fire. He said these Angels sat at the entrance to his grandfathers property in an area of Berkeley, Ca. known as Wildcat Canyon and in 1923 there was a huge wild land fire there. The fire eventually spread to and burned large areas of Berkley including historic down down buildings. His grandfathers residence was spared as the fire burned close enough to one Angel to melt the paint but stopped short of burning both Angels then changed course sparing the grandfather ranch structures. The family always believed that the Angels were responsible looking over them and for saving the ranch. For that reason they always cherished the Angels. The seller told me that he is not a believer in the Angels saving the ranch or in Angels but he did not want to tell the the story until after I bought them in case his non-believeing was offensive to me. As to the date of these Angels manufacturing he only could tell me before 1923 becasue that\'s when the fire happened.
