Partly-printed Document Signed (DS) as President, “William McKinley”, one page on vellum, 18.75\'\' x 14.75\'\', March 7th, 1901. President McKinley appoints Peter Leary, Jr asMajor of Artillery Corps. Boldly signed at thebottom by McKinley and countersigned by Elihu Root as Secretary of War. Large, blue paper seal affixed at lower left remains intact. Overall in Fine condition.

William McKinley (January 29, 1843 – September 14, 1901) was the 25th President of the United States, serving from March 4, 1897, until his assassination in September 1901, six months into his second term. This commission was signed in the final months of McKinley\'s life.
