ITEM: 　

For sale is a large and rare arts & crafts brass desk inkwell or inkstand made by Rathbone & Co. Probably a design by Richard Llewelyn Benson Rathbone with a wide tapering conical shape, wide base and convex lid. Fully marked on the base, model 680 and 1903 being the probable date. Does have the ceramic ink pot that fits well and is old but may or may not be the original. Rathbone collaborated and produced items for Voysey, ie fittings for furniture and collaborated on designs for metal ware, including inkwells. As mentioned this one is likely to be a Rathbone design but does have some similarities to the Voysey ones. Many of the items were supplied to companies such as Liberty & Co, Morris & Co and others.

CONDITION: 　

No dents or cracks to the metal. Minor wear to the surface and is left unpolished. No cracks or chips to the ceramic ink pot. The lid is slightly off centre when closed and slightly raised.
