Ascarce Royal Doulton Art Deco figurine 'Marietta' HN.1699, designed by Leslie Harradine and issued from 1935 to 1940.Marietta was the heroine from the comic opera Die Fledermaus much of which is set at a masked ball - hence the bat costume. This figurine is in the rarest green colourway. Royal Doulton Lion & Crown mark to the base along with 'Marietta' HN.1699. There is an impessed date code 3 9 35, making this one of the earliest figurines produced in this colourway. An opportunity for the discerning collector to own a very rare figurine.

Condition
Good overall condition with no chips.Thereare three very fine under glazehairlines: 1. across the top of the head between the horns of the mask, 2. from the point of the mask to the right cheek (approx 1cm), 3. across part of the leftfoot (approx 0.3cm). There is an area of well executed professional restoration to the back of the cape immediately below the right arm. The closest of inspection is required to see any of the above and the figurine displays superbly. Alovely piece that would grace any quality collection.
