Important Rare Russian Palekh Lacquer Box Alexander Kotokhin 1926 Hand PaintedOffered is an important Russian lacquer box hand painted by Alexander kotokhin and dated in 1926. An additional number 1708 is on the left corner. The production of the lacquer box startted in Palekh in 1924, so this piece is an early work from the region. The top of the box measures a little over 4.25\'\' x 3 3/16\'\' at the widest (as it has a curving side at one end); the bottom measures about a little over 4.25\'\' x a bit over 2 15/16\'\'.The painting is remarkable in details and colors, the box appears to be wrapped in a cloth at some point and somehow heated hence the marks of the cloth transferred to the box surface as waving and indentation marks as shown in the images. There are age appropriate wears shown in the images. The inside of the box has a slight Japanese incense aroma remaining.Please ask questions if any before your Purchase, and enlarge and zoom and examine the pictures carefully for its condition.
