Rare Shiebler Sterling Silver Aesthetic Lorgnette 1880-1910:

Estate fresh and up for your consideration is a wonderful Shiebler Aesthetic Lorgnette in the form of leaves and vine. The piece is hallmarked with the Winged \"S\" for Shiebler and Sterling along with the number 2074. This piece weighs 83grams and is an incredible 9.75 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. There appears to be a gilded wash over the entire piece most all of which is intact. Some of the gilding on the leaves has a rose-colored patina. I have not polished the piece, I leave that to the new owner. To add to the charm of this rare piece from the Gilded-Age is the application of a three dimensional Fly, Butterfly, Beetle and Spider! The Lorgnette is very good condition with light scratches commensurate with age and use. The glass is in good condition, there is a small scratch that looks as though it occurred as the glasses were opened and closed. All in all a fantastic piece of American Silver at its over the top best!!!
