A rare sterling silver noveltyinkwell. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1923 with the makers marks being rubbed.It has been superbly made in the form of a bell and interestingly engraved ‘HaslemereBells Recast 1923’. For those unaware Haslemere is in Surrey, the bells of St Bartholomew’sChurch were recast in 1923 at a cost of £700.00. I suspect this was either madeto raise funds or perhaps mark the event. It is in super condition being freefrom dings splits holes and repairs. The glass liner is free from cracks andchips. It measures almost 2.5 inches (6cms) tall by over 2.25 inches (6.1cms) wideand weighs 102 grams. A beautifully made rare possibly unique piece museumworthy.
