This sale is for a TRULY RARE FIND, An Original Russian Imperial WWI Russian Revolution Helmet M17 1st Pat. Star RARE. We have never seen another with this early first pattern star with the Hammer and Plow emblem. This dates the helmet to 1917-1922. The 2nd pattern hammer and sickle emblem was used beginning in 1922. We are unsure if the shell was repainted and decal masked or if the paint is just in incredible condition. Liner is not present. The Chinstrap is undoubtedly original to the helmet. It is a beautiful, museum quality helmet in exceptional condition. 3 rivet top. The helmet is made of nickle/steel alloy, non-magnetic. Issued to shock force troops only with high casualty rates. Very limited numbers produced, small numbers made in Russia and the rest were made in Finland. Judging by the lack of finish liner rivet holes, it is likely a RUSSIAN manufactured helmet! Only 10,000 are said to have been manufactured and most were captured and reissued by the Finnish Army.
