Offered here is a classic Sunoco gasoline Rest Rooms double-sided porcelain sign. Day One gloss over much of both sides, with the original shiny brass grommets and heavy-duty hanging bracket with three mounting holes.
Excellent condition with all-original paint and no touch-ups. Circa 1946. Marked P&M, the abbreviation for Porcelain & Metal Products, a respected manufacturer from Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Minor chips to porcelain consistent with age and use outdoors. Whatever connected the sign to the bracket is missing, but I will provide open chain links as connectors, as shown in photos. I have seen many connectors promoted as \"original.\"
This porcelain sign measures 22\" by 7\" and the bracket measures 21 1/2\" by 6 1/2\"
Displays beautifully, and very rare in this condition. Lists for as much as $1500 in Mark Anderton\'s Encyclopedia of petroliana: Identification and price guide, copyright 1999, p. 205--and that was 15 years ago!
