I am actually amazed that this beautiful battle used sword has survived to this day! Up for sale is a U.S. Cavalry Ames MFG Chicopee Mass sword. This sword has the RARE DR Mark used by Ames instead of the usual written out Ames MFG Chicopee Mass that is more commonly seen. The manufacture date is 1863. As expected this is not a perfect blade having some slight \"wrinkles\" and \"dings\" on the blade that are completely expected in a piece from this era. The leather and wire are in very good condition for the age. I have left the patina as is and have not attempted to clean the blade at all. The blade retains what I would call very good straightness overall. The blade is firmly planted in the handle with no wiggle or wobble.
