Offering a remarkable original oil and tempera paintingdepicting a tropical Tahitian scene, signed P. Gauguin, in the lower margin of the artwork. PaulGauguin went to Tahiti in search of new, exotic motifs, but also to escapeEuropean civilization, which he felt was artificial and spiritually bankrupt.This pictures he painted in the South Seas, exhibits the artist\'scharacteristic post-Impressionist style,in it, Gauguin used sinuous contoursand intense colors to express the joy and serenity inspired by the lushtropical site.The works as a whole are brightly colored, loosely painted,outdoor figural scenes.
The artwork comes with a registration certificate atNational Fine Arts Title Registry, with a transfer of registry certificate tothe new owner, transfer of ownership and a COA which came with the artwork whenacquired. The artwork is offered and described in the documentation as inmanner of the artist. The condition of the artwork is very good, as pictured,common aging of the paper can be noticed. The artwork is also stamped onreverse from the previous collection, and has a reference number marked onverso.

An elegant and comfortable ship called Océaniencrosses the Indic Ocean en route to the French colonies in New Caledonia. Itspicturesque passengers, divided into three classes under the deck, covered fromrich, important functionaries and landowners; to young people of humble originswho traveled to the colonies searching a future that the old France was notable to assure. In other words, the transoceanic ship was sort of a human zoo,a circus with so many actors that nobody noticed the presence of a middle ageman with a powerful moustache, who spent the endless hours sitting on the deck,gazing into the horizon. Nevertheless, that anonymous personage who occupiedone of the humble third-class cabins was not an ordinary passenger. He was anadmired painter called Paul Gauguin, who travelled to Tahiti searching anartistic redemption, a comeback to the primitive and the exotic that could helphim to find a way in which his Art could be purified.
