Offering a unique original tempera and gouache painting depicting a still life, a table-top composition with window, vase of flowers and tabletop, signed Henri Matisse, in the lower margin of the artwork. Matisse painted still life as this picture, when he still retained Neo-Impressionist blocks of color but also began to construct his pictures with flatter areas of color,with rhythmic brushstrokes, Matisse rendered space and objects alike in flat color planes.Still life remained favorite subject throughout his career.

The artwork is also stamped on reverse from the previous collection, and has a reference number marked on verso.

the founders of Fauvism and a leader of 'Les Fauves',
a group of artists who enjoyed painting pictures with outrageously bold
