This is a rare 1970 / 1971 Schwinn Super Sport. The bicycle is mostly original, and has not been restored. The \'MF\' date code in the serial number on the head tube means that it was manufactured in Dec., 1970. It was released as a 1971 model since it was painted in burgundy (which was only available on the 1971 year of Super Sport). It would also be considered as an early model because it has the more desirable Huret forged rear drop-outs. It has most of the original \'Schwinn Approved\' hardware, including the long cage Huret rear derailleur. The saddle is not original, but it is an upgrade to a Brooks b-17 Special. This is considered a 24\" frame (even though it measures about 23\" from bb center to top of top tube. It is 24\" if measured to top of seat clamp. Of course, it is a fillet brazed, chrome-moly frame. It does need some work, and the original paint is rough. The frame is straight, and there are no dents in frame. The rear wheel has a bend in the side-wall. Front wheel is pretty good. Both hubs spin pretty smooth. It will need some new cables, and probably some tires and tubes, if you plan to ride it as it is. The front tire seems to be holding air, but the rear leaks.
