Super Rare John Jameson Whiskey Vending Machine, 1971.
This vending machine was specially designed for after-hours use in pubs in Ireland in 1971. It dispenses whiskey (1/3 gill) measure on a coin operated basis. 20p-30p per glass of Jameson. There are two whiskey bottle compartments. Instruction panel below coin slot reads as follows:\"INSERT KEY ABOVE & TURN CLOCKWISECHECK THAT OPTIC IS FULL & THE SOLD OUT LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATEDPLACE GLASS ON REST UNDER DRINK REQUIREDINSERT CORRECT COINSTHIS MACHINE SUPPLIES 1/3 GILL MEASURES\"Information at glass rest reads as follows:\"NOT FOR USE BY PERSONS UNDER AGE 18. - Takes old Irish 10p coins.The machines were banned in Ireland in 1972. This one came in its original box and was never used. It has a light oak finish and comes complete with keys. Having spent the last 45 years in its box the internal mechanics will need someone to recondition to working order if desired. The machine accepts 1960\'s - 1980\'s Irish 10p coins. A very rare must have collectible for any whiskey enthusiast. Great conversation piece for a home bar/ public bar/ designer pub as a nostalgic feature from a bygone era. Only in Ireland would you find such an invention. When the barman can no longer legally serve, no one has to go anywhere thanks to this genius invention. Unfortunately for its inventor, regulation brought about the banning of the machine in 1972.
