Thank You and Good Luck offerding!!!! Brief History:Hamilton Watch Company

The Hamilton Watch Company succeeded three watch manufacturers occupying the same facilities in Lancaster, PA., the most successful of which known as the Lancaster Watch Company. It was incorporated in 1892 and produced its first watch, known as the 936, in November of 1893. Hamilton produced high quality pocket watchesand wristwatches, from mid-range to luxury. Hamilton became a corporate conglomerate diversified in other operations. The Hamilton brand now belongs to The Swatch Group.

The precursor to the Hamilton Watch Co. was the Keystone Standard Watch Co., a Lancaster, Pennsylvania based watch company started by Abram Bitner in 1886 with the purchase of Lancaster Watch Company\'s factory. Keystone had watches that featured a patented \"Dust Proof\" design that used a small acrylic \"window\" to cover the only opening in the plate of the movement, \"thus sealing the movement completely from dust.\" The company existed until 1891 when the company was sold to Hamilton Watch Company

The Hamilton Watch Company was established in 1892 after Keystone Standard Watch Company was purchased from bankruptcy (it was sold at a sheriff\'s sale to a group of Lancaster, Pennsylvania entrepreneurs whose \"objective was to build only watches of the highest quality.\") During the same year, Aurora Watch Company of Illinois was also merged into Keystone. A decision was made to name the new company after James Hamilton, owner of a large tract of land which was granted to him from William Penn and included what is now the city of Lancaster. The new company would be known as The Hamilton Watch Company
