This fascinating mechanical cast iron bank depicts the notorious politician Boss Tweed in this circa 1960 reproduction \"Tammany Bank.\" It\'s an exact replica of the original patented in 1873, and the original casting process was used. The original version of this bank was part of The Book of Knowledge mechanical bank collection of the late 1800s which were meant to teach children the value of thrift, and give them moral lessons. This is particularly true with this bank, which has the crooked Boss Tweed accepting a coin bribe with his uplifted right hand and putting it in his pocket. His head bobbles very slightly as he acknowledges taking the bribe. \"TAMMANY BANK\" is seen on both sides of his chair. \"PATd DEC 23 1873\" is on the back. \"REPRODUCED FROM ORIGINAL IN COLLECTION OF THE BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE\". The round stopper on the bottonm is missing. The paint and structure of the bank is NEAR MINT.
