Rare WWI Antique Folding Chain Link Saw c. 1910s:
$485.00

Extremely rare folding chain link two-man saw, c. early 20th century. The links are stamped \"Simonds Mfg Co.\"The saw is composed of chain link teeth with wooden and twisted iron handles.I could not find a single example of this saw in my research. According to an antique tool expert I spoke with, the saw may have been US Army issue during WWI, folding and thus easy to transport, and would have originally had a leather case that could be strapped to a belt. Regardless of its origins, it\'s a remarkable tool and an evocative object. Hung on a wall, its jagged serpentine form is arresting and an art piece in itself. An extraordinarily rare tool and a handsome example of turn of the century American industrial design.

Measurements:

55 incheslong, handles 7 inches long, each link 1.25 inches wide.

Condition:

Good antique condition, with scratches to handles, no significant rust to speak of.
