SUPER QUALITY SOLID SILVER,TRAVELLING
MINIATUREPLAYING CARD CASE,
BY HIGHLY COLLECTED,WELL RENOWNED SILVERSMITH
WHO IS WILLIAM COMYNS,WITH LONDON MARK,
AND THE DATE LETTER FOR 1899.
(A RARE PIECE FOR THIS MAKER).
It has a wonderful pictorial repousse design showing a gentleman serenading two young ladies amidst tree\'s and woodland with a turatted tower in the background and a lovely chased and scrolled border on one side.
The other side shows,a wonderful balustrade terrace with lion\'s mounted to the walls amidst tree\'s and foliage with peacocks wandering around the garden and a cityscapeto the distant background,again with a beautiful scrolled and chased border.
It is of a very good gauge of silver and weigh\'s 117.6 grams.
It measures 10 cm wide,by 7.3 high and 2.2 cm deep.
The case is in very good antique condition with only a few extremely minor pinprick dents to its sides and the pictorials both back and front being undamaged.
It also has a strong and snug fitting lid.
All hallmarks and decoration are crisp,clear and easy to see and read.
Lovely as a stand alone piece,or as part of a collection.
