‘ COMBINED OPERATIONS ‘ by JACQMAR OF LONDON Early 1940’s
This is a rare, original World War 2 propaganda scarf produced by JACQMAR, designed by Arnold Lever. It dates from the early 1940’s.
It measures 38 x 34 inches and is made of crepe. Two of the edges are rolled with hand stitching and the other two are selvedge edges. The background colour is a light caramel and the other colours are pink, black and 2 shades of blue.
It is in Very Good condition for its age. There are a few faint marks, two of which are indicated in pics 3 and 4. There is one very small hole about the size of a pin head - indicated in pic 5 [just below the pointer].The colours have not run and are still very vivid. It is very clean and does not need any cleaning.
If you ever wanted to clean it, I would recommend that it not be washed but cleaned by a specialist dry cleaner. The colours in some old crepe fabrics can run sometimes when washed.
This a beautiful scarf with real history and great visual appeal. It is a museum piece.
