Here on offer is a rare and superb vintage Kigu large flora-form goldplated powder compact with its original box.

Kigu of London was set up in London after George Kiaschek, one of afamily of Hungarian goldsmiths, following his father’s tradition of making highquality and stylish compacts. The companies reputation for quality andinnovation remained unsurpassed. Kigu became a household name throughout theworld. The company was sold in the early 1980s by Georges son after his death,to Mascot.

This wonderfully stylish compact is designed as a large floral shapewith an embossed surface and a central cartouche. The cartouche is engravedwith beautiful gothic lettering ‘CM’. The top has a gorgeous fan designalternating geometric patterns with dense floral patterns, the base isrestricted to the geometric design fanning out wards from the centre. Thecompact has a push button mechanism to open, revealing the interior which has amirror in the lid that is free of any damage. In the base there is a lidengraved with the KIGU logo at the centre of a machine turned design. Thisinterior lid has a little sliding catch, beneath it is the powder well and sifter.There is still some loose powder in the compact. The compact retains theoriginal sifter and box. The compact is free of damage and wear, the gold platethroughout is in excellent condition. The box has some damage.

The compact is in excellent vintage condition, it measures about 10.3cm indiameter by 1.3cm and weighs 205g

This is a really great compact for a collector.
