This is definitely a unique instrument designed by the McIntyre Brothers. Here is a quick blurb about the concept.
In order to address the problem of playing over \"the break\" the McIntyre brothers developed a new mechanism for the soprano clarinet.The McIntyre system eliminates the traditional Ab and A keys as well as the awkward use of the register vent to sound the Bb.These notes are now played by the left hand without any displacement of fingers sideways whatsoever, both eliminating issues with the dreaded throat tones and enhancing finger technique at the same time.
As a retired music educator I have collected many interesting itemsover the years and this is one of them. There is a great deal of info on the internet about these horns, so check it out. There are also fingering charts available. I played oneyears ago and I must admit it does have someadvantages.This horn will need some new corks and maybe a few pads here and there to get it playable. It mostcertainly is a curiosity, but rather than trash it, I am putting it up for sale at a very reasonable starting price, , and shipping will depend on yourlocation, although localpickup will be available.
