Very Rare & Unusual, Very Striking Antique Red Patchwork Quilt From Massachusetts Estate, WITH MORE THAN 400 HAND-SEWN SCRIPT NAMES ON IT !!!

DESCRIPTION: This is a particularly rare, exceptionally collectible & scarce antique patchwork quilt. Very COLORFUL & BOLD, made with a highly desirible shade of red and white, made in an unusual Diamond & Sawtooth pattern. A WONDERFUL PATTERN, WITH A VERY STRIKING APPEARANCE.This is a particularly colorful and bright quilt.

Early quilt, dating from the late 1800\'s. Machine pieced and bound, and hand-quilted.

THIS IS THE MOST UNUSUAL PERSONALIZED QUILT I HAVE EVER SEEN, as it is absolutely loaded with names. I COUNTED OVER 400 NAMES !!!! All appear to be in the same script writing. All in red thread. May have been a church project or town project or other organizational project to raise money.....maybe they paid $1 to have their name put on it? Then sold or saleed off the finished quilt? Men, women, couples....several people from the same families, all in the same area, for example Campbell......also couples by name like \"Mr. & Mrs. .....\". Even a couple of company names, like \"Eaton & Co.\". Scans show it all. Still can\'t get the entire idea of it from the scans. NEEDLESS TO SAY, YOU DO NOT SEE TOO MANY QUILTS PERSONALIZED WITH ANY NAMES, AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE WITH SO MANY OR THAT CLEARLY MUST HAVE BEEN SOME SORT OF TOWN PROJECT!!!

This is one of the nicest, most unusual quilts from my collection.

In very good condition overall as shown. A couple of slight spots of folding discoloration along the middle fold. I have notlaundered this and keep my quilts just as they came from the old house. Obviously, the buyer can wash or clean if desired. This is a great looking, VERY STRIKING quilt top for display, ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE RED & WHITE!!! And of course, the rarity of having 400+ names!!! Can be used on a bed orfor background in a period collection.

Very large and measures approximately 72\" x 79\". THIS HAS BEEN PART OF MY PERSONAL COLLECTION AND CAME OUT OF AMASSACHUSETTS ESTATE MANY YEARS AGO. A NICE EARLY QUILT, AND VERY SCARCE WITH SO MANY NAMES AND THE STORY BEHIND IT.

I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT YOU WILL NOT SEE ANOTHER ONE LIKE THIS ANYWHERE.
