Air Force & Navy Art Collections or the United States National Air & Space Museum (Smithsonian Institute of American Art) you may have seen some of Raymond Bayless\'s other original paintings. These are only a few, of several collections, the permanently house Raymond Bayless\'s paintings.Raymond Bayless had a successful career. He illustrated a half dozen book jackets for Arkham House Publishers. In 2000, Science fiction writer Ray Bradbury called his paintings \"truly excellent.\"Bayless also published a half dozen books on parapsychology and collaborated on others: \"The Enigma of the Poltergeist,\" \"Animal Ghosts,\" \"Experiences of a Psychical Researcher,\" \"The Other Side of Death,\" \"Apparitions and Survival of Death\" and \"Voices from Beyond.\"This painting is \"truly excellent\". Painstaking detail, masterful control of light, a rich color palette and a well balanced composition are only a few of this amazing painting\'s qualities! Bayless settled in Los Angeles with his family in 1925. As a teenager he worked in book and magazine illustration. Self-taught, his forte has been realistic still lifes in the trompe l’oeil manner, Turneresque landscapes, and science fiction fantasy paintings. This oil on canvas measures 19.75\" by 17.75\", with its\' frame. The actual painting measures 16\" and 14\" is signed and dated \"58\" by Bayless, on the lower left. Bayless also painted a Caduceus cipher next to his name.The painting has some spots of inexpert Inpainting. Please enlarge the digital images of the painting to see the extent of the inexpertly done painting. Otherwise, the painting is in good, overall condition.The 2\" wide wood frame has a few nicks/scratches. Overall, the frame is in good condition.When examining the painting under the ultraviolet light, I did find evidence of inpainting. Inpainting accounts for about 20% of the painting\'s total surface area.
