This is actually a wonderful early French 19th century (circa 1830-1840) small pelmet. The fabricis a linen/cotton blend on the climbing roses and ribbons side. Lovely old hand blocked misregistrations.I have seen this fabric listed on other antique textile sites described as 1700 fabric but I am almost certainit is early 19th century. Whatever its exact dating it is exceptional. The lining is a wonderful mid scaleextremely intricate hand blocked fabric also suitable for doll\'s clothing. The pelmet is entirely handsewn and lined with a worn silk bobble trim. The scale of the small silk lined wooden is wonderful fordolls also but the silk is worn away and some missing bobbles. Fabric lining is also a cotton/linen mix.It is in good condition with storage and flocking marks which can be seen on the beribboned lightground side.
