Well folks this will probably be my last button offer for a while. Listed a few rare ones from my collection for your consideration. My goal here was to raise about 5k for an upcoming action featuring a rare John Hancock document at an in house sale on the 30th. I have reached and surpassed that goal by about 1k . Am doing what most of us do as collectors with no deep pockets and \"Rob Peter to pay Paul.\" However I will offer up one more rare officer button for your consideration This one I consider super rare and not an example in this 17mm size in Don Troiani\'s book \"Insignia of Independence \". The face is hard to see but due to a little ground action but is there. It is similar to the enlisted variety B84.k or L. Small 84 with a remark in Don\'s book and I quote \" After 1778 , a repousse pattern with crown over the number 84 was adopted for officers.\" NOTE: \"There are also a FEW examples of a one piece officer example with crown, thistle and number \"84\". This is one of those rare examples probably in few or no major collections. Nope not cheap but of the buttons I have listed ask your self how often do they come to market? Answer that and consider your option. This example has the SF B/M for Samual Firmin. Some disclaimers: No overseas buyers please to include Canada. Sorry. 13 Aug: I need to correct the record here after receiving an email about where this button was found. In my initial write up I had mentioned was a POW and found near Winchester. Tha is not correct and was indeed confused when I had listed an 80th REgt of Foot rare officers button on I think last month. It a 48th REgt of Foot officers, that was sold were found in te Winchester area by local diggers . These plus this 84th I got in trade from my old friend in Va before I moved back to Maine. Obviously when listing this 84th my mind was on the 80th a the time. My mistake and apology. However it dies not take away the fact this is a rare button of an officer and rare regiment and the info above remains the same. 14 Aug: My friend Steve said this button was dug a Ft Holdimand . Relist 3rd time Dropped from $950 to a BIN of $800. Listed for -5days only.
