Revolutionary War French Soldier Brass Helmet From \"POITOU A St CALAIS \" c 1700s:
$750.00
Brass military French soldiers helmet with what looks like copper rivets, 16 brass tacks on the leather straps, missing some. Engraved on the front of the helmet is \"POITU A St CALAIS. There is what looks like a bullet or other object that made a dent in the helmet and possibly saved the soldiers life. Brass is approx 4 inches high in the center and 1/1/2 at both ends. extending about 11 inches around on brass and from front to back about 11 inches.
I acquired this helmet in the 70s and the owner thought it was a French Soldiers helmet used during the American Revolutionary war.The helmet is lined with leather and one strap that holds the helmet on is missing a few inches, See photo.I am selling it without any more knowledge but feel it is extremely rare.If you have any adds info please let me know.
