RIGAUD, Jacque Vue de la Cascade de Marli--French veduta of the Falls of MARLI:

This is a copper line engraved print from an unknown book. I know the titles of some of the books but not the exact one that this print came from. The title is famous. Plate number 6. Engraving done by Jacques Rigaud. (1681-1754) \"avec privilege du Roi\" Page and plate mark sizes are the same as print was trimmed to plate mark. size is 19 1/8 inches x 9 3/4 inches. Print is a Vue de la Cascade de Marli. This cascade is composed of forty little falls of water and nine fountains. Chateau de Marly was a relatively small French royal residence located in what has become Marly-le-Roi. This commune existed at the edge of the Royal Park near Versailles. It was first set up by Louis XIV and later Louis XV. On lower part of print it states \"a Paris chez l\'auteur rue St. Jacques vis a vis le college du Plessue\". Neat print showing the social street life in Paris near Marli walking the dog and having a chat with friends. Jacques Rigaud was famous for his engravings of the Royal houses of the nobility in France. Pretty cool. Very unusual to find an early engraving of Rigaud.
