ROOKWOOD POTTERY VELLUM PLAQUE BY CHARLES J.McLAUGHLIN - FINE GREEN & BLUE:

Description:

Extremely fine Rookwood Vellum Plaque, displaying rare greens and blues, with orangish/red shades of sky. This is a beautifully painted landscape/waterscape, executed by \'Charles J. McLaughlin\' in 1914. There is the, diagnostic, impressed \'Rookwood\' logo (flame mark), and date on reverse center of plaque (XIV). The plaque is in its amazing, original, ornate,classic frame.

The signature initials of Charles J. McLaughlin, CJM,painted by the artist,on lower right of the front. There is minor crazing (see photographs) - there are no bubbles, no scratches, no breaks. Written on the upper reverse of the plaque, in the artists handwriting - \"Down the Ohio\". There is other writing on the reverse (see photographs). I have taken the best photographs I can possibly take - there is, also, a paper-board back, as you can see by the photograph - it is not connected, so that you can see the reverse of the plaque. If you care to glue it back, that is your choice - it is, exactly, as I purchased it in sale, forty years ago.

The size of the entire plaque is 5 1/16\" x 8 1/16\". The image size of the front, because of the lip of the frame, is 4 13/16\" x 7 11/16\". The size of the frame is 8 3/4\" x 11 3/4\".
