VERY HARD TO FIND! \"COMING FROM THE FAIR\"by Rosa Bonheur (French 1822-1899)A PERFECT COMPLIMENTTO HER FAMOUS \"HORSE FAIR\" PAINTING
FYI: very difficult to photograph and get color correct. Extreme reflections in glass (photo 5&6), so I removed glass and photographed without for photos 1-3.
SIZE: Over all with frame - 15 1/4 X 21 1/4\" Actual print - 6x12 3/4\"SIGNED: Lower left Corner - Rosa Bonheur \"1873\"GLASS: Is in very good shape, some rough areas on edges due to age. Glass has many bubbles and wavy lines throughout and also has a slight green age tinge to it.FRAME: Very goodoriginalMahogany frame with gold inner trim. Some slight age related wear on back. Since I took it apart to photograph without glass, I had framers put new paper on the back and new hanging wire. Ready to hang!PRINT: Has some age related spots visible on the actual print
In 1951 my grandfatherpurchased this framed art along with a house in western Massachusetts from Adm. Harry Yarnell (1875-1959). It has remained in the family ever since. We have no way of knowing whether he was the first owner. Mygrandfatherhad the tan 2nd mat added sometime in the 70\'s.

History I have been able to locate regarding \"Coming From The Fair\" -

We believe that \"Coming from the Fair\" was originally a small sketch

which Rosa Bonheur gave to a charity bazaar and which she never intended

should be published. At her request, we bought the plate many years ago

when it came into the market. — L. H. Lefevre and Son.

This is from \"THE ARTIST\' January 1892

The complete engraved work of Rosa Bonheur are now for the first time to be had at Leon Lefevres in St James\'s Square Apart from their intrinsic value as works of high artistic merit these engravings have other claims to the notice of art patrons for the stock of artist\'s proofs of many of them is now considerably reduced and in some instances entirely exhausted which greatly enhances the speculative value of the remainder The list is as follows 1 Bouricairos crossing the Pyrenees 2 Changing Pasture 3 Chien de Chasse 4 Coming from the Fair

Thiswas alsolisted as a # 539 Perry Papers available print in the 1899 and 1904-05 editions of The Perry Magazine. It is believed this is one of those sepia tone prints.
