This clasp bracelet is from the 1880s and possibly earlier. While it was purchased from Scotland, it may have been made in England. That probably sounds confusing, but Queen Victoria started such a craze for Scottish jewelry that English jewelers were making the stuff to fill demands, too. I know this is one of the earlier ones because the rose gold plating over the sterling silver is quite thick and the etching work quite elaborate. There is a big thistle, a stag, and two snakes twined around a pole with a thistle on either side of the pole. There are two lozenge shapes of the rose gold as well. The fretwork (cutout shapes) don\'t show especially well in the pictures but they\'re quite detailed. Really a unique and eye-catching bracelet. Best for a medium size wrist, I think, but it will fit a large wrist as well. The clasp works well and there is asafety chain. The bracelet is an inch across at its widest parts.
