Charles Spindler (1865-1938), started the family business in 1893. He was trained as a painter and watercolour artist and attended art schools in Munich and Berlin. He is best known for his pictorial marquetry of the Alsace countryside, but is also known to have created marquetry for French Art-Nouveau furniture as well as smaller objects. He exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in Paris 1900 and the 1904 World\'s Fair in St Louis. His work is signed using pyrography in bottom right corner. The entire piece measures 22 inches x 8 inches . This was produced at The rowley Gallery in Kensington Church street in London in circa 1920 - 1925 . They were picture framers and Fine art Dealers .This is typical of their pieces having a stylised circular marquetry panel .
They also employed other renowned artists such as Frank Brangwyn .
This is in nice condition with the original metal hanging chain on the reverse .The mirror itself is in perfect condition .There is a thin scratch to the upper right edge of the frame .This is a delightful example by one of the best London makers , and the added bonus is that it has a signed panel by one of the leading Art Nouveau and arts and Crafts Marquetry Artists.
This is useable and will be a good investment .
