2013 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Sculpture in Copenhagen Harbor

\"Little Mermaid\"

This miniature replica of the Little Mermaid sculpture (Which is also depicted on the 2013 Annual Christmas Plate) commemorates the sculpture\'s centennial anniversary. In 1913, art lover and brewer Carl Jacobsen (of Carlsberg beer) asked sculptor Edvard Eriksen to create the Little Mermaid sculpture based on the Hans Christian Andersen\'s beloved Little Mermaid story. The statue was inspired by the lead ballerina in the Little Mermaid ballet, also a response to the popular fairy tale. The Little Mermaid, now a famous symbol of Denmark, has graced the Copenhagen waterfront for 100 years.

She stands 4.5\" tall and comes complete with her original box.
