2013The Royal Copenhagen Manufactory has been producing these beautiful porcelainDanish Christmas Collector plates each year since 1908 and they are stillbeing produced today. This particular plate was issued in a limited edition during 2013 and the company certified that the mold would be broken at the end of the year to make further reproduction impossible. The motif of the plate, Copenhagen Harbor (Langelinie)was designed by Sven Vestergaard andfeatures a modern day ship sailing past The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen Harbor. This is the 106th plate in the Royal Copenhagen series of collector plates.
The motif appears in relief and the plate is hand decoratedin blue under-glazecolors. The year is always on the front at the bottom,and to insure authenticity, the back of each plate includes the Royal Copenhagen logo with three wavy lines and the painters initials. Also, there are two holes bored in the upper top of the back of the plate to facilitate display. It is not clear from the initials who designed this piece.
The plate measures 7.25 inches in diameter, stands about .75 inches tall, and weighs 11 ounces.
* Included with your purchase is the original box, a certificate of authenticity and a 2013catalogwhich shows other products made by the Royal Copenhagen company. Although previously owned by a collector, this plate looks brand new and the box and paperwork show little to no wear or damage.
