Royal Doulton England Figurine RED \"Kirsty\" HN 3213 Fine Bone China 1970 Very Rare Vintage Collectible. There are no chips, flaws or imperfections. It is in new to excellent condition. There are still a tag and sticker on it.

Three ofits brands were Royal Doulton, Royal Albert andMintons. These brands arenow owned by WWRD Holdings Ltd (WaterfordCrystal,Wedgwood, Royal Doulton),based inBarlastonnearStoke-on-Trent.

By 1871,Henry Doulton,John\'s son, launched astudioat the Lambeth pottery, and offeredwork to designers and artists from the nearbyLambeth School of Art. The first to beengaged wasGeorge Tinworthfollowed by artists such as the Barlowfamily (Florence, Hannah, and Arthur), Frank Butler, Mark Marshall and Eliza Simmance.In 1882, Doulton purchased the small factory of Pinder, Bourne & Co, atNile Street inBurslem, Staffordshire,which placed Doulton in the region known asThe Potteries.

By thistime Doulton was popular for stoneware and ceramics, under the artisticdirection ofJohn Slater, who workedwithfigurines, vases,character jugs, and decorative pieces designed by the prolificLeslie Harradine.Doulton products came to the attention of theRoyal family.In 1901King Edward VIIsold the Burslem factory theRoyal Warrant,allowing the business to adopt new markings and a new name, Royal Doulton. Thecompany added products during the first half of the 20th century whilemanufacturing fashionable and high-qualitybone china.

Theheadquarters building and factory of the Royal Doulton ceramics firm were inLambeth, on the south bank of the Thames. This Art Deco building was designedby T.P.Bennett. In 1939Gilbert Bayescreatedthe friezes that showed the history of pottery through the ages. The Lambethfactory closed in 1956 due to clean air regulations preventing urban productionof salt glaze. Following closure, work was transferred toThe Potteries.The factory building was demolished in 1978 and the friezes transferred to theVictoria & Albert Museum. The officebuilding inBlack Prince Roadsurvives, complete with a frieze ofpotters and Sir Henry Doulton over the original main entrance, executed byTinworth.[2]
