This piece is beyond rare. I have done extensive and exhaustive research all over the internet and through several Doulton contacts. NO crazing, chips, repairs, restoration or issues. Purchased from a VERY reputable seller I am confident that this is a very, very rare piece and a true find in it\'s condition.

This gorgeous and stunning Doulton is the finest example of a figurine I have never had the pleasure to have seen. There are most certainly norepairs or crazing which some sellers describe as “commensurate with age”.Figurine has been well taken care of over several decades. Magnificent piece in excellent condition. I have personallyinspected this piece with scrutiny using my “trusty” OPTI-VISOR 20X jeweler’smagnification set. I critically yet comfortably assess this piece at 9.8 on our1 to 10 scale. FYI: (I have NEVER assessed ANY piece higher than a 9.8). The 2/10 variable is ONLY due to the fact that nothing is perfect. (The RdNo764555number is stamped on the bottom of this figurine).

This being said, my further assessment has enabled me toaccurately associate an EXACT year THIS figurine was made. Essentially, thereis, in fact several ways to determine the age of older Doulton figurines. Insome cases it can be a formidable and difficult task whereas one may end upconsulting a TRUE EXPERT, (In my opinion, there are FEW “true experts” in theworld. More in England than in the United States). While I feel that I am wellversed and reasonably knowledgeable I am certainly NOT AN EXPERT.

In the United States of America few that come to mind, (that Irespect as “experts”), would be at Pascoe & Company and Seaway China. Invariably,serious US collectors KNOW these two reputable and knowledgeable Royal Doultonsellers.

For further information that may be of interest to our prospectivebuyers, readers of this descriptive listing and all Royal Doulton Collectors Iam privileged to share with you the following paragraph of information that onemight find intriguing and significantly enlightening.

From 1902 to 1920, RoyalDoulton had the HN number, the figurine name, and any artist identification ofstyle Hand Written with the Log saying only Royal Doulton England. From1920 to 1930 the HN number, figurine name and style were still hand written,but the logo now says Made In along with Royal Doulton England. From 1932until 1945, the figurine name is printed along with registration number, butthe HN number is still hand written and the the works Bone China is added tothe logo. From 1945 until 1959 the markings are the same as from 1932 -1945, but the painters initials are added hand written and the logo crown hasmore spikes. From 1959 till present day, the logo crown is back to 5points and the figurine name, HN number, and registration numbers are allprinted. The only way someone can tell you the exact date a figurine wasmade is if a small number is directly to the right of the logo crown, then addthat number to 1927 and you will know the exact date made.

The “small” number “10” is directly to the right of the logocrown. According the aforementioned mathematical equation this Royal Doulton,Pied Piper HN1215 WAS made in 1937.
