This sale is for the figurine called “Tuppence a Bag.” The design was based on a character from the very popular musical “Mary Poppins.” The old lady would sit in front of St. Paul’s cathedral selling seed for the birds.

Back Stamp: It has the Royal Doulton Lion on a crown with the words “Made In England – Royal Doulton – Bone China – England.”
It also has the name of the figurine, the HN number, and the words “Doulton & Co. Limited” and the registration numbers 921239, 47894, 10349, and 447/65. According to The Charlton Standard Catalogue of Royal Doulton Figurines, after World War II, it was usual to have several registration numbers which protected the design in Royal Doulton’s main export markets. However, this was not required since the early 1980s. Accordingly, we believe that this is an early model.
Condition: The figurine is in vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. As is standard in bone china pieces, there may be small factory flaws such as tiny bits of ash and transfer trapped under the glaze.
