Royal Doulton \"Pride of the Shires\" draft horse. The piece is 6.25\" high and has a 10\" long base. Great condition with the exception of a small chip at the tip of the left ear. Guaranteed authenticity, from my Mother\'s collection. I\'ve seen this on our mantelpiece at home my entire life. The Doulton stamp includes, off to the right side, the number20 refering to the date, which appears to be 1947 (a). Stamped but uncolored is the model number? (b), 1073A with the number 5 also stamped uncolored on the right. This is hand marked HN 2564, below the number is a signature that appears to be a slightly modified C. See PHOTOS.

This figure was designed by W.M. Chance (c), and is from the HN horse series (d). This figure was introduced somewhere from 1939-41 and was discontinued in 1960 (e).

The horse is in motion with a rear foot raised and the neck & head bent slightly off to theleft.The body is brown, with black tail, mane and bands abovelarge whitehoofs, the nose is also white. The horse is standing on a raised grassand dirt base.
