Royal Doulton character jug fishing figurine, vintage 1953 commemorates the 300th Anniversary of The Compleat Angler book by Izaak Walton. The jug depicts a fisherman with a brown hat, fishing flies and a coat with white collar. The handle is a stylized fishing rod leaning on a tree trunk. Incised lettering on the back reads Izaak Walton Compleat Angler. The jug was designed by Geoff Blower. It was introduced in 1953 and discontinued in 1982. This jug measures 7 inches high. It is marked with Doulton Number D6404, COPR 1953 and the Royal Doulton back stamp; Made in England To Commemorate the 300th Anniversary Of The COMPLEAT-ANGLER 1653-1953. The condition is excellent with no crazing, cracks, chips or repairs. This is a limited, discontinued piece, it would make an excellent gift or addition to a collection, mancave home décor or in a study, and a wonderful pen and pencil holder.
