A charming Royal Doulton Lambethware vase handpainted and hand signed by Lily Partington, circa 1912.
This mottled blue-green stoneware vase is decorated with two baskets of roses in a tubelined panel below the flaired lip.In addition to the artists signature, LP, the piece is stamped with the lion and crown Doulton manufacturer\'s mark used from 1902 to 1922. The model stamp, 7998E, more precisely dates the vase to 1912. This is one of Lily Partington\'s earlier pieces; most of her surviving work dates from the 1920s and into the 1930s.
Standing approximately 8 1/4\" tall, this vase is in excellent condition, with no damage, no cracks, no chips, and no repairs. There are several glaze pops, not uncommon for Lambethware. But there is no crazing, which is also not uncommon for these early 20th Century Doulton pottery pieces.
In short, this is a very attractive signed piece with an Arts and Crafts feel to both its simple shape and the artist\'s embellishment.
