This is a RoyalDolton demitasse cup and saucer with a handpainted depiction of Reynard the Fox. The area where the fox is painted on is also raised so the the fox stands out from the surface. The handle is painted brown, and styled to look somewhat like a tree branch. Reynard the fox is a very old European folklore character, who was usually depicted as crafty, attempting to steal from the poor. The saucer on this set is plain white and smaller in diameter than some I have seen. I have seen sets both with this plain white saucer or with the flatter saucer that has hand painted designs on it.
The cup is 2 1/2\" tall, and 2\" across the top. The saucer is 4\" in diameter and is raised 3/4\" at the edge.
Both pieces are in excellent condition, with no signs of wear. There are no scratches, nicks, chips, crazing, or cracks in either piece.
