\'Sairey Gamp\' from the novel Martin Chuzzlewit is one of Dickensmost recognized characters.
Originally promoting themselves as \"TheTeapot Specialists of England Since 1867\", Lingard were noted forproducing everyday tea service products and associated teawares and theymade many fine novelty teapots like this one in the period 1935-1955.After the 1950s the firm ceased production of its novelty teapot range andconcentrated on normal teapots.
In the example being offered, Sairey Gamp isliterally two-faced, with identical versions of her face on either side ofthe teapot.

Dimensions (approx)

The tea pot stands 6.5\" tall and the lipto lip diameter under the lid is 2.5\" at its widest point

Condition

The tea pot is in very good condition after wellover half a Century, but the top has been cracked and glued back together. See the pictures. The colors remain vibrant and the glaze remainshealthy with just a few areas of age related crazing.
The teapot is pre-owned, but from the overallcondition of the item, and the lack of staining inside the vessel, weassume it has led a pampered life on display.
