Beautiful Royal Worcester Hand Painted Plate - Painted and Signed by Johnson

A lovelyRoyal Worcesterplatepainted and signed by George Johnson - the leading Royal Worcester game birds artist.

It stands approximately 9.25 inches (23.5cm) in diameter.

The plate has a scalloped outer rim,gilded to outer edge of a blue border, inside of which is a scrolled border of flowers and foliage. It has a beautifully painted centre panel depicting plover in scrubland with waterscape and hills to the background. Johnson has signed the plate to the lower right of the painted centre panel.

Markings to base: \'Royal Worcester Vitreous\' over the Royal Worcester mark. With date code of 6 dots and 5 dots representing the year 1902. Also has hand inscribed number in red: \'7124\' and \'Plover\'

In very good condition - the upper side of the plate is in lovely condition, not at all reflecting the plate\'s antique age. The under base is also in good condition; 2 or 3 very small pock marks; and the standing rim showing very little wear.

A truly beautiful display.
