This is a beautifulAntique Russian Niello Silver Snuff Box with an interwoven floral / Leaf Designand dated 1874. The top of the box hasa center cartouche monogrammed with the initials “RS” and the interior of thebox is gilt. The box is marked inside ofthe lid and base with an unidentified makers mark that appears to read “A. MATИCEHъ ”. The inside of the base is stamped with the Moscow city mark and “B.C 1874” which is the Moscowassayer mark for Viktor Vasilyevich Savinsky and the year 1874. The box is marked in 3 places “84”; inside of the lid andbase and on the rim near the latch. Russian84 silver is equivalent to.875 silver. The snuff box measures approximately 2-3/4 inches long, 2 inches wide1 inch tall and weighs 98.6 grams. Otherthan some light scratches this Moscow Russia Niello silver snuff box is in very good antiquecondition. (See photos)
